This random team generator takes a list of names and splits them fairly into a set number of teams, handy for sport, work projects, quizzes, or any time you need to divide a group without bias. You enter the number of teams required and paste or type your list of names into the box below, one name per line, with room for up to 10,000 names. Click generate and the tool shuffles the full list into a random order, then deals the names out evenly across the teams you asked for. If the names do not divide equally, such as seven people into three teams, some teams simply end up with one more name than others rather than the split failing. The results appear as a set of tables, one per team, labelled Team 1, Team 2 and so on, with the names sorted alphabetically within each team so the finished lists are easy to read and share. Because the shuffle is genuinely random each time, clicking generate again on the same list produces a different grouping, which is handy for settling arguments about who ends up where.
